It was hard to say goodbye to the Rice family. I love these people so much and they became such a big part of our lives when we lived on Cape Cod. I went to see Rylan in the hospital when she was born on a very snowy day three years ago. Our families have spent holidays together, our kids love each other, and they are truly the nicest people around. Coast Guard life is crazy, just when you find “your people” it is almost time to say goodbye to them. Thankfully, once our paths cross, they are part of our lives forever and ever. And the CG is very small, chances are good that we will bump into each other again. I hope that is the case because we miss the Rices.
This was my very last session before we left Cape Cod to move to Stuttgart, Germany. We met at a gorgeous field in Mashpee and it was one of those early summer evenings when everything is just perfection. It wasn’t too hot, too buggy, the light was glowy and warm, and the kids were so sweet. They were up for anything. The only thing missing is their adorable puppy, Finley. She was too little to come out, but next time she will for sure be in her family portraits.
A few days after this session, we boarded a plane and moved to Stuttgart, Germany. It’s been a wild ride, but so rewarding. We have embraced being a traveling family and have been all over Europe in a very short time period, with lots of travel planned for the future. While I miss the sand and beaches of the Cape, the views in Europe are equally breathtaking, just different. It’s so lush and green, and the architecture is incredible.
