Monday Coffee Date – Bree Hester Stuttgart Family Photography. A new bike, a trip to Bad Wildbad, exploring the Black Forest at the Baumwipfelpfad Schwarzwald, and picking tulips.
This weekend was glorious. We spent a lot of time at the soccer field, Ava and Clay had games on Friday and Saturday. We’ve reached the point where watching the kids play sports is less about obligation and actually really fun to watch. I know you parents of older kids can feel me.
I bought a bike this week. It was an impulse buy, but it made me so happy to ride it around the store that I had to bring it home with me. It’s so cute, and riding it around makes me feel like a kid again. Ava and I went on a bike ride in the vineyards across the street from our house. We rode down with no problem. We didn’t realize until about halfway down that it was going to be rough getting back up. We figured that we are tough girls, we can handle it. We almost died on the way back up. We stopped at the biergarten to recharge and hydrate before we could make it all the way home. Note to self, pay attention to the elevation before you get to the bottom. The upside, it was the first time we’ve been to that biergarten and I have a feeling that we will be spending a lot of time there. It is literally across the street.
I decided recently that I am going to cook 5 nights a week and that Friday or Saturday was going to be pizza and we would go somewhere for dinner on Sundays. We’ve explored a lot outside of Germany, but not so much an hour or two outside of Stuttgart. On Sunday we went to Bad Wildbad and went to Baumwipfelpfad Schwarzwald. We got some lunch at the entrance, and then hiked to the park. To get to the tower, you walk through the trees. In many spots, you are as high as the trees, and it is absolutely beautiful. The tower is essentially a big boardwalk and you walk to the top to take in the magnificent view of the Black Forest and you can walk back down or take the slide down. This was one of my favorite outings we’ve taken since we got here. I loved it.
On the way home, we stopped to pick some tulips. There are You Picks all over. You pick your flowers and put your money in the jar. The fields of tulips are glorious. The lilacs are also in bloom and they are everywhere. I wish that you could smell spring right now.
WATCHING //Chef’s Table on Netflix. The pastry season is out and it is breathtakingly beautiful. The whole series is a delight to the senses, but I really love this one.
DRINKING FROM // I’m a big fan of a Yeti and when I am home I exclusively drink out of a 30 oz. Rambler. I bought a second one and now they come in colors! I have not had a warm drink since I started using a Yeti. If I go to bed with ice in my cup, it is still ice in the morning.
NEEDING // A large vase. I have lots of little ones, but I am needing a big one for all of the lilacs I want to pick. Can you point me in the right direction? Where do you buy vases? I love the one in this picture.
PLANNING // Our summer travels. We have London (a mom and daughter trip) and Slovenia on the books and planned, but we want to add a few more in there. Any ideas?
HAVE AN AMAZING WEEK!
